Home care and assistance
The Work Unit responsible for providing the assistance and care at home functions as an open form of social protection of adults and elderly people within the Gerontological Care Centre «Novi Sad». It was established in June 1978.
The main function of this type of social protection is provision of services of social workers, hygienic-health care, and all other forms of assistance and care at home to elderly, threatened persons and members of their families. The priority is in provision of psycho-social support to beneficiaries and families at their homes as well as in hygienic-health care and assistance in execution of chores. The capacity of this Work Unit includes 237 beneficiaries.
The staff of the Work Unit “Home care and assistance”, which has been functioning successfully for more than 30 years now, is incapacitated for provision of different services, social protection services and hygienic-health care services in the households of beneficiaries.
The type and scope of services is determined depending on the psycho-physical and health status of beneficiaries.
Three hundred beneficiaries use the services of home care and assistance on a monthly basis and they imply:
- maintenance of hygiene of premises that beneficiaries live in
- washing and ironing of personal clothes and bed linen
- maintenance of personal hygiene accessories of beneficiaries
- purchase, preparation, serving of food and feeding of beneficiaries and dish washing
- maintenance of personal hygiene of beneficiaries and their beds, prevention of decubitus wounds and their treatment
- purchasing and administering of medicines, creams and other means in therapeutical purposes
- blood pressure measuring
- artificial feeding
- injections
- implementation of rehabilitation measures
- health-hygienic education
- providing of psycho-social support
Mrs Zorica Petrovic, a graduate expert in political science is the Director of this Work Unit.
