Work Unit “Clubs for adults and elderly people” Clubs for adults and elderly people are open forms of social protection designated to persons in the third period of their life cycle who still live at their homes. During the day, they get included in the work of some Club based on their personal selection and affinities. The objective of activities and contents that are organised in clubs is to prevent pathological ageing, cherishing of proactive role of elderly people and fostering of their volunteerism and mutual solidarity. The social work services and health care services, which are free of charge for beneficiaries, are in the function of the above-mentioned objectives. The activities that are organised in clubs stimulate longer integration of elderly people in a society, more satisfying and life with richer content, maintaining of physical and psychological fitness and satisfying of a number of cultural-entertainment, sports-recreational, social and other needs. There are 13 clubs that are active within the Gerontological Centre “Novi Sad” today: Club «Novo naselje», Novi Sad, Bate Brkica 17 Club «Olga Petrov», Novi Sad, Futoska 67 Club «Radnicki», Novi Sad, Brace Mogin 2 Club «Grozda Gajsin», Novi Sad, Njegoseva 24 Club «23.oktobar», Novi Sad, Pariske komune 44 Club «Ivo Andric», Novi Sad , Narodnog fronta 71 Club «Kosta Sokica», Novi Sad, Radoja Domanovica 17 Club «Kozara», Futog, Cara Lazara 22 Club «Veternik», Veternik, Ive Lole Ribara 1 Club «Prva vojvodjanska brigada», Novi Sad, Maksima Gorkog 14 Club «Klisa», Novi Sad, Savska 27 Club «Slana bara», Novi Sad, Cenejska 54 Club «Vladimir Nazor», Petrovaradin, Cajkovskog 1 The capacity of the existing club premises satisfies 1 080 beneficiaries and number of beneficiaries at an annual level reaches 3 060. Membership is open to all persons belonging to the third period of their life cycle who observe the Rules of Conduct of the Club and other document that regulate this field. It is significant that club activities are planned and carried out in co-operation between members and expert staff of the Centre where everyone gives his/her own contribution through interaction. It is planned for clubs to become places of good meetings in compliance with wishes and needs of persons belonging to the third period of their life cycle. Sunny Autumn of Life A traditional event titled the «Sunny Autumn of Life» has been organised every year since the middle of the 1970s as the crown of all the activities that beneficiaries are prepared for throughout the year. Its special task today is to promote healthy aging and raise the awareness of the community on the specific needs of elderly people. During the month of October a number of exhibitions of paintings of beneficiaries, promotions of their literary works, tournaments in appropriate sports, traditional culinary skills, picnics and many other entertainment, and musical events, visits to theatres and many other activities are organised within the «Sunny Autumn of Life». The Committees for social-health care issues also visit their members with impaired capacities. The Work Unit “Clubs for adults and elderly people” employs social workers, organisers of activities in clubs, nurses, and club keepers.
